Abstract
This presentation aims to touch on: the potential of sport as a mediator between cultures in social contexts and, specifically, through the lens of social capital; sport space and building national identity; sport in social agendas; appropriate practices of sport initiatives promoting intercultural harmony; and the role of universities as institutions of higher education sensitising future decision makers on sport's capability as a mediator between cultures.
