N2  - It is the aim of this paper to look at the emergence of a sedentary lifestyle as a 'social risk' concept. This means that a sedentary lifestyle is not only an individual and biomedical issue to be studied from a medicalized perspective of the human body. A 'social risk' approach of sedentariness suggests that the problem of sedentariness is  generated by developments in society and that a coordmated social policy is needed to cope with this problem. In this chapter  this 'socially generated risk' approach of sedentariness will be addressed, with a special focus on the role of sport. Aus der Einleitung (geändert)
