Abstract des Autors

Arthrosis of the knee joint or the hip joint is widespread. With the intention to effect a far-reaching decrease of the sick person's handicaps in life, "aquajogging (suspended deep water running)" was carried out with a total of 30 patients within the scope of a study. With patients suffering from cox- or gonarthrosis, the results showed that in general their endurance had improved significantly through "aquajogging". Moreover, with patients suffering from gonarthrosis, the flexibility of the knee and the strength of the knee flexors and the knee extensors increased significantly. Altogether it could be shown that "aquajogging (SDWR)" with its "low-impact"-character is highly appropriate for an endurance training which does not damage the knee as well as for an effective therapy.
