Abstract des Autors
There is no reliable evidence of an icnreased risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) in athletes taking anabolic steroids (AS). To get more informations about this topic we examined 104 bodybuilders and 29 sports students (SPOST). The bodybuilders were divided in 3 groups: on AS (A, n = 26); off AS (> 4 weeks) (AF, n = 24); never AS (NIE, n = 54). The A-group showed a significant lower level of HDL-C and HDL2-C (ANOVA, p < 0.001). But there were no significant differences in LDL-C-levels and in frequencies and seriousness of other risk factors of CAD. Therefore, it is very difficult to say something about the risk of CAD if only the temporarily decreased level of HDL-C is regarded. Verf.-Referat
