Abstract
The economic impact of degenerative diseases and low worker productivity can theoretically be influenced by a fitness regimen designed to enhance physical working capacity. As the physical working capacity declines with advancing age employers are apt to view this negatively as evidenced by the fact that age is viewed as a bona fide occupational qualification which often forces mandatory retirement. However, an exercise and fitness regimen has been shown to influence worker productivity positively and is implicated as a negative correlate with degenerative diseases. This article describes the rationale for physical fitness training programs in business and industry as a method to improve worker performance and job life. Verf.-Referat
