Abstract

The first of three sections, Exercise and lung function in health and disease, discusses the responses of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems to acute and chronic exercise. It includes the responses of normal and patient groups to both dynamic and static or isometric exercise, and it focuses on factors which limit exercise capacity. Exercise as a rehabilitation tool is the focus of the final section, Exercise in disease prevention and therapy.
