Mehr als 40.000 durch Sport verursachte Gehirnerschütterungen werden jährlich in Deutschland diagnostiziert. In diesem Beitrag wird anhand des Kopfballspiels im Fußball dargestellt, wie mit den Gefahren des Schädel-Hirn-Traumas in den USA, Großbritannien, Deutschland und in internationalen Verbänden umgegangen wird und welche Präventions- und Aufklärungsarbeit in Deutschland noch zu leisten ist.

More than 40,000 sport-induced concussions are diagnosed in Germany each year. In this article, the example of headers in football (soccer) is used to show how the risk of traumatic skull and brain injuries is dealt with in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and in international associations, and which preventive and informing/advising measures have still to be undertaken in Germany.
