Abstract des Autors
Specific training programs for core strength and core stability have been established throughout the past decades in many sports disciplines, in rehabilitation and in prevention. Core stabilization and neuromuscular control seem to be important factors in determining the risk of ACL injuries. Therefore, biomechanical assessment of these factors appears to be vital for a better understanding of the biomechanics of knee joint injuries. This chapter concentrates on the possibilities to study the interaction of core stability and knee joint control in cutting movements with high dynamic requirements under those situations in which ACL injuries might occur (Boden et al., 2000; Olsen et al., 2004). This approach aims to increase the knowledge of core stability and knee joint control compared to earlier studies where rather non-dynamic conditions were analyzed using, for example, a sudden force release apparatus (Zazulak et al., 2007a, 2007b). In particular, it is of great interest to evaluate gender differences in core and knee joint stability as women are known to have higher incidence rates for ACL injuries than men.
