Abstract des Autors

It is well known that after renal transplant patients have low levels of physical functioning than healthy population. Appropriate physical intervention improving level of physical functioning and supporting normal life recovery should be a part of standard health care. For the specifics and demands of the population the implementation of physical intervention is not normally part of health care for these individuals. We submit a study assessing level of functional physical capacity in randomized group of 50 patients early after renal transplant (in 1st to 6th month). The functional physical capacity was assessed by The Senior Fitness Test battery. The results of the study group were compared with normative standards of healthy population. And they were compared with the results of the dialysis group (61 patients) by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA).In comparison with long-term dialysis patients have after renal transplant patients increased level of functional physical capacity (in 5 tests from 6, p ≤ 0.05 and less), but their physical functioning level didn’t reach level of healthy population. Results under or on lower limit of the norm: in overall physical capacity 39% of the patients, in aerobic endurance 84% (as the lowest level component) and in upper body flexibility 16% of the patients (as the highest level component). The Senior Fitness Test battery is shown as appropriate means for physical fitness assessment in patients early after renal transplant. The battery can be repeatedly used for comparison at a later time after transplant and may be an appropriate part of the appropriate physical intervention empowering patients to physical activities.
