Abstract

The aim of this study is to present and analyze the economic factors that defined the current situation of sports in Brazil, the measures applied with the purpose of improving it, the perspectives for the future, and recommendations for the full development of national sports, intending to obtain characteristics and results typical of nations considered great powers on the world sports scenario. The analysis was performed based on the three pillars proposed by Digel (2002, 2005). The nation's political system constitutes the first pillar of analysis, which also considers the systems of teaching, communication of population development, employment, quality of life, social values and social commitment. A brief history of the institutionalization of sports in Brazil is presented in order to elucidate the current scenario. Another sector analyzed is the economic system. Thus, a scenario analysis of this system in Brazil is presented with the purpose of investigate the positive and negatives elements of this aspect on the development of sports. The second pillar refers to the sports system, which is presented and analyzes the role of the state and other sports developmental agencies in the Brazilian structure. The interactions between the sports system and social environment, which constitute the third pillar, are analyzed through the actions of the state with reference to support and development financing of the sports system. Finally, the perspectives and possibilities of potentiating the actions in order to strengthen a system for the full development of national sports are analyzed. Aus dem Text (geändert)
