Abstract

The purpose of the work was to assess the characteristics of take-off abilities of rock´n roll dancers and volleyball players in comparison with ordinary population. The athletes performed standing jumps after jump-down from various heights to minimum or considerably bent lower limbs. The results showed that while FTVS UK students jumped higher when they took-off from feet than from squat, values of volleyball players and rock´n roll dancers were better after jump-down to considerably bent legs than to minimum bent legs. However, the difference between the two ways of jumping has appeared significant only in rock´n roll dancers. So appart from certain genetic dispositions, the higher height of jumps with take-off from squat than from feet in volleyball players and rock´n roll dancers in comparison with FTVS students resulted namely from the character and duration of training stimuli.
