Abstract des Autors

The swimming speed and exercise intensity of field tests used in competitive swimming were investigated using non-invasive methods, and these results were compared to those of invasive tests. A total of ten highly-trained male college swimmers participated in this study. The four field tests, T-30 (30 mins swim test), T-600 (600m swim test), T-2000 (2000m swim test), and T-CS (critical speed test) were used as the non-invasive tests. A lactate step test, which consisted of swimming the 200m freestyle a total of seven times in four stages (3, 2, 1,1 x200m) was conducted as the invasive test. In comparing swimming speeds of all tests, T-30 (1.410 +/- 0.046 m/s) and T-2000 (1.406 +/- 0.037 m/s) were significantly lower than those measured in the other tests (p<0.05). The blood lactate concentration in T-600 (11.82+/-2.38 mmol/l) was found to be significantly higher than T-30 (5.57+/-1.25 mmol/l) and T-2000 (6.42+/-1.75 mmol/l) concentrations (p<0.05). It is suggested that swimming speed calculated from the T-30 and T-2000 continuous swimming tests and used to assess endurance capacity may result in lowered exercise intensity during endurance training.
