Abstract des Autors
Verf.-Referat
Abstract
In considering the advisability of athletes with anamnestic hepatitis-Cinfection
participating in fighting sports, one has to consider two aspects:
Is there any potential danger 1. to the infected athlete himself, or
2. other athletes, who may come into contact during competition?
To reduce any potential danger in fellow athletes, the infected athlete
has to return a negative test for virus-RNA on at least two occasions. It
should also be noted that new viremias have recently been described in
medical literature. Therefore testing of athletes for virus-RNA should take
place every 6 months. Another potential danger for an athlete is
sports induced suppression of the immune system. As such, there is also
need to control the transaminases twice a year.
If these testing protocols are followed, the athlete may be allowed to
participate in fighting sports. Verf.-Referat
