Abstract des Autors

Objectives: To set dietetic rules specific to football, a sport in which it has been noticed that numerous players don't feel concerned by the approach to the matter. Topics: Food consumption during training periods will have to meet relatively moderate needs compared with other sports. These needs are roughly from 8.5 to 17 MJ for men, and from 8.5 to 13 MJ for women; special attention will be paid to the balance of foods provided, knowing that the essential need is carbohydrates. Before and during competition times, food will mainly aim at keeping the glycogenic reserves as high as possible, whereas during matches, it is a priority to compensate water losses, along with - if it turns out to be necessary - a complement in sugar taken in liquid form. Futur prospects: Only a precise assessment of the performance - a difficult task to achieve in a sport such as soccer - should enable the insurance of a better adustment of food consumption to needs.
