This bibliography is a selection taken from the database SPOLIT of the Federal Institute for Sport Science and the database of the Sport Research and Information Centre (SIRC) in Ottawa/Canada. This is the first bibliography in New Studies dealing exclusively with the hammer throw. There has only ever been one bibliography about the throws in general, published in NSA 1/1988, which also included 13 articles about hammer throwing. Readers who want to have a more extensive overview about the hammer throw literature than provided by the following bibliography and who are also interested in some general aspects of athletic throwing are referred to this bibliography, too.This bibliography includes 123 documents altogether and is subdivided into seven chapters: 1. Publications with an emphasis on the technique of the hammer throw (39 documents), 2. Articles dealing with biomechanical aspects of hammer throwing (21 documents). 3. Hammer throw photo-sequence analyses (7 documents). 4. Publications focusing on training for the hammer throw (27 documents). 5. Publications about teaching the hammer throw (15 documents). 6.
