The first covers 1783 to 1808, in which two lighter-than-air craft were fitted with crude human-powered devices. The second section covers 1912 to 1959, in which prizes catalyzed the development of heavier-than-air HPAs. The third section covers 1959 to 1985, when a series of later Kremer Prizes was offered and won. The fourth section covers 1985 to the present, during which time HPF activity has been stimulated principally by enthusiasts who set their own goals. Verf.-Referat SN - 0873228278 SP - 1995.
