Abstract des Autors

Although during the last decades some athletes reached spectacular distances with the rotational technique, this technique has become popular with the majority of international athletes only in recent years. However, with the exception of only a few athletes, some of who have been quite successful, the rotational technique is still an absolutely new ground for most athletes and coaches in Germany at least. Although some attempts have been made to teach this technique to children and adolescents, there is even today a lack of teaching sequences for the introduction and development of the rotational technique. Against this background the authors deal with the advantages, disadvantages and requirements of the rotational technique of shot putting. The basics of screening and selecting rotational shot putters are described, and a model of long-term technique training, including steps to learn the rotational technique, is presented. Verf.-Referat
