N2  - The Elite Athlete Self Description Questionnaire (EASDQ) is a new, 28item Instrument designed to measure six components (Skill, Body, Aerobic Fitness, Anaerobic Fitness, Mental Competence, and Overall Performance) of the elite athlete self-concept. The EASDQ was administered to elite athletes from a selective sports high school (N-349) and from the Australian Institute of sport (N-151). Confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) of responses by the total group and each separate group identified the six a priori factors and provided good support for the factorial invariance of responses across the two groups. Hierarchical CFA provided good support for a single higher-order factor and the invariance of the hierarchical structure across the two groups. The results support the appropriateness of the EASDQ for diverse groups of elite athletes.   Verf.-Referat
