Abstract des Autors

In 37 cystic fibrosis patients aged 7-24 years a 3-week exercise course was applied under indoor conditions using stationary devices such as moving track, bicycle, rowing and multifunctional training device York 2001. The criterion of qualification for the exercise was the test of physical efficiency. Two basic types of training load were used, at the 60 and 90% levels of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max). Initial measurements demonstrated low physical efficiency. The final measurements after programme completion showed significant improvement of effort tolerance and physical efficiency. The mean results obtained in these 37 cases (+/-SD) expressed as per cent of the expected values were: maximal work Wmax (watts) = 95.8+/-32.3 (70.7%) before and 106.7+/-34.5 (77.5%) after the training programme, and VO2max (ml/min) = 953.7+/-399.0 (53.4%) before and 1075.9+/-390.8 (58.4%) after the programme (p<0.001). The obtained results showed thus improved physical efficiency in cystic fibrosis patients. The high effectiveness and attractivity of the programme suggest the possibility of its application outside clinical centres in home environment. Verf.-Referat
