Abstract des Autors

Gymnastic is a difficult sport that involves both physiological and psychological athletes' aspects. In 1993 we examined the acute injuries of 38 gymnasts of our national teams, 23 girls and 15 boys, during the period of their highest level activity. We payed particular attention to the specific apparatur frequency of traumas, to the most injured anatomical sites, to the frequency of different kinds of lesions, to the most risky phase of gymnastics' movements, to the importance of mats and other safety precautions and the frequency of injuries in different ages. For both, males and females, the risk of injuries seems to be proportional to the training entity (number of training per week and years of high level practicing). The highest risk phases of different exercises are sole impact and the final part of movements with high acrobatic component. The safety precautions actually utilized during training, are useful to prevent the most part of traumatic injuries. Verf.-Referat
