Abstract des Autors

With 15 male and 12 female experienced swimmers, a 70 min interval training was performed. Before, at the end, 1.5 h, and 3 h after swimming, blood and urine samples were taken for determination of hormones. Increase in excretion of the catecholamines was equivalent to or even smaller than under comparable work conditions on land. Compared to men, the increase in norepinephrine excretion in women was more pronounced even though they had significantly lower lactate levels. During swimming, aldosterone concentrations of men increased by about 60%. In general, women demonstrated significantly higher values than men, and their swimming-induced changes in aldosterone were most inhomogenous. In women, cortisol concentrations decreased during and after swimming, while in men the circadian decrease could be found only after swimming. Verf.-Referat
