Abstract
Anthropometric data and the age of menarche were recorded in 377 female rowers aged 13-25 years. The mean age of their first menstruation was 12.90 years (range: 9.50-16.33 years). They were classified into three age groups: 15 years or less, 15-19, and over 19 years, which corresponded to their being beginners, moderately advanced, and elite (+ substitutes). Their respective mean ages of menarche were 12.46, 12.87, and 13.40 years. These results suggest that later maturing girls stand better changes of high competition achievements. Verf.-Referat
