Abstract

The recognition behaviour in view of sport is characterized by a peculiar contradiction: In directly empirical observation and in everybody communication sporting actions are recognized, identified and differentiated from other spheres of social activities with great certainty and determination. In the attempt, however, to define sport theoretically, conceptually and to interpretate it philosophically there is an extraordinary uncertainty and ambiguity. This is indicated by the multiplicity of theoretical sport interpretations, that are characterizing sports science discussions. This report will be dealing with this contraction in three stages: In the first stage some of the most pronounced and most influential interpretations in international discussions will be described briefly. In the second stage there will be made an effort to evaluate some real and some recognition-related reasons for that multiplicity. In the third stage there will be made an extensive contribution to the discussion about the concept of sport. Verf.-Referat (gekuerzt)
