Abstract des Autors
Lateral ankle sprains occur frequently in sports, and the severity of the sprain may be difficult to diagnose. X-rays should be searched for osteochondral fractures. The extent of ligament injury should be determined at the time of trauma to initiate appropriate treatment. Arthrography can assess the involvement of the individual ligaments in the acute stages, but graded stress radiography can quantitatively and quickly determine the loss of functional support independent of time of injury and can therefore be used to help determine effective treatment. This technique is also suitable for follow-up studies to monitor ligament healing. Verf.-Referat
