Abstract

After the administration of pollen preparation, some obvious changes took place on the athletes cardiovascular system: (1) red-cell count increased about 30 than the contrast value before the experiment, hemoglobin increased 15 and hematocrit 30; (2) plasma total cholesterol decreased about 17 than contrast value, erythrocyte sedimention rate slowed down 35 and plasma viscosity reduced 11; (3) blood viscosity increased markedly in early phase, but tended to be stable soon afterward, showing no difference with contrast value. The analyses show that pollen preparation may be an effective natural nourishment even for the basically healthy athletes. A long-taking of it will enhance blood-producing function and erythrocyte transporting efficiency, thus increase the ability of the body for respiratory metabolism and stress. Since the hemorheological parameters such as blood viscosity are still in good condition when hematocrit increases obviously, it is quite evident that pollen preparation can effectively coordinate and improve the normal function of the cardiovascular system.
