Abstract des Autors
The authors refer the serum changes of haematological and immunity parameters induced by intense physical exercise in basketball players. No significant differences were evaluated in mean serum values during and after the sports season. Transient changes in serum iron, ferritin, immunoglobulins and lymphocytes were evaluated in single subjects. Then, it is not reasonable to administer oral iron preparations in these athlete because if an iron deficiency is present during the exercise, it is transient, not correlated to anemia and to immunity deficiency. Then iron administration, in this situation, is more dangerous than useful for gastrointestinal side-effects induced by iron. Verf.-Referat
