Abstract
There have been few reports concerning levels of maximum oxygen uptake in elite marathon canoeists and kayakers. Based on research carried out while several Australian representatives attended training at the AIS, this article indicates that international success, in marathon paddling, requires capacity to attain very high oxygen uptakes during upper body work.
