Abstract
An account is given of an unusual combination of clavicle fracture and dislocation of the acromiovlavicular joint in an athlete following a cycling accident. The pathogenesis, referable to a complex injury mechanism with application of the active force in rapidly succeeding stages and probably along different axes, is discussed. Diagnosis was completed in two stages. The anatomical und functional features of the injured area meant that the fracture alone was detected at first, whereas the damage to the joint was only discovered after synthesis of the fractured segment.
