Abstract

Volume 34, prepared in 1984, marks 15 consecutive years of publishing of the freestanding instructional course lecture series. The topics are selected from the instructional course lecture series that is presented each year at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, where over 120 extensively reviewed courses are selected to be presented. The chapters this year contain current concepts of the management of scoliosis, low back problems, cervical spine injuries, flexor tendon injuries, the childs hip, athletic injuries, shoulder instability, rehabilitation, and computers. There are bound to be some differences of opinion on current methods of care in a healthy, growing specialty. Improving methods of management must be upgraded each year, even though it may take several years for the scientific validity to be established. Verf.-Referat
