Abstract
Computer hardware is becoming so cheap that computer processing of exercise electrocardiograms can now be offered to the practicing cardiologist with little extra costs. However, such computer processing will only help in detection and management of patients with heart disease if it is designed according to the state of the art.The information in this chapter will aid the cardiologist or internist in the selection of an optimal system for computer-assisted exercise electrocardiography in his practice. The quality of the exercise electrocardiogram can indeed be improved by computer processing.However, quality controls remains a major task for the technician and physician who are responsible for the test.
