Abstract

This book contains suggestions and recommendations made at the 5th International Seminar on Ergometry for quality control in ergometry and test criteria. Such a control standard has been lacking up to now; it is, however, the basic prerequisite for comparison in this field. The topics center on quality control, in particular with reference to the method of approach, the calibration of the apparatus, and the usefulness of lean body mass. A detailed discussion of the role of lactate analysis includes a critical review of the analytical process itself and the interpretation of the results. New aspects of ergometric diagnosis, such as stress-ECGs, blood pressure response to exercise and athletes testing, are introduced. All those interested in the control of ergometric testing should know the proposed procedures and the recommendations presented here. Klappentext
