Abstract

The primary purpose of the Instructors Manual is to provide the instructor with selected questions and answers about each section of the text, The Bio- logy of Physical Activity. The questions and answers presented in the Key Concepts and Topical Outline sections are actual classroom questions used by the authors with the corresponding student responses. The questions are keyed to the major topics in each chapter and should prove helpful to the instructorin constructing test items. The purpose of the chapter section gives a brief overview of each chapter. The text is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the physiology of exercise with several unique features, in- cluding a contemporary approach to exercise, an emphasis on the working motor units, the stress on the physiological support system, and, finally, the application of this information to specific topics.
