Abstract

Although the major areas critical to the derivation of biomechanical models are well developed, results have lagged far behind the potential. The lack of a comprehensive human movement model has limited movement analysis and severely restricted valid movement simulation. To improve this situation a comprehensive computer model to simulate human motion is presented. Utilizing an 18 point, 14 segment model, the critical parameters of the displacement based planar model are presented. Once the model is validated, a simulation technique is proposed and an example of the procedure is presented. Consisting of two stages, segment simulation and total movement simulation, the technique offers a useful tool to investigate the potential of selected human motion. To allow both researcher and practitioner the opportunity to utilize the technique, the entire analysis procedure is accomplished through conversational computer interaction. Verf.-Referat
