Abstract

The authors present research made on 80 (eighty) professional soccer players from the Braziliam state of Minas Gerais. The athletes were submitted to the test of Cardiologic Aptitude for Effort (PACE) under use of the method of continuous evaluation, with progressive cardiac frequency on an ergometric bycicle, with continuous electrocardiographic monitoring and measuring the arterial tension from minute to minute. The analysis of the data showed a maximum tolerance of aerobic work averaging 10 METS, with the amplitude varying from 8 to 12 METS. The average pulsation was 160 bpm, and the maximum consumption of oxygen 35 mil/kg/min, varying from 28 to 42 mil/kg/min with an average recovery of 4 minutes. Constatation was made of two (2) cases of patients wich Chagasic cardiopathy, with BCRD + HBAE, one (1) patient with intermittent BAVT through diptheric myocarditis, and one (1) patient with asymptomatic WPW syndrome. The tests allowed and evaluationofthecardio-respiratory situation of the players, guiding those responsible for the teams in the re-formulation of the methods trough the personification of the training courses, schematized in function of the results obtained from the PACE.
