Abstract

The translated and processed Body-cathexis scale (BCS) proves to be an useful instrument for measuring the (dis) satisfaction about ones own body. In an area which, among other things, is characterized by the rehabilitation of the body and in which neurotic people canalize their insecurity by lagging behind in this physical upgrading, a body attitude list can prove to be of good service. Body-cathexis turns out to be a one-dimensional concept, although some features can be distinguished, like face, over-all appearance, availability, body functions and appeal. It also turns out that some role of the body play a more important role in the establishment of the esteem for the body than other parts. Some difference between men and women was to be expected and was found indeed. Verf.-Referat
