The Results of Group Counseling Program for Promoting Prevention Attitudes of Risk People in Cardiovascular Disease

Zusammenfassung

The objective of this Quasi-Experimental research was to studies and analysis efficiency of promoting attitudes, attitude comparisons, and health check results in program for group counseling to reinforce attitudes in preventing of cardiovascular disease. The sample consisted of 16 persons purposively at risk of cardiovascular disease. They were obtained from purposive selection by criteria. Then, they were simple randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group with 8 persons in each group. The experimental group received 8 sessions of group counseling which lasted for 60 minutes. While the control group received for usual information care. The instruments were 1) program for group counseling to reinforce attitudes in preventing of cardiovascular disease in risk people 2) general usual information health care 3) and the questionnaire on attitude of prevention cardiovascular disease with the reliability of Cronbach’s alpha .87. The statistical procedures for data analysis were average, median, quartile deviation, the Wilcoxon Matched Pairs Signed Ranks test, the Mann-Whitney U test, and the dependent samples t-test. The study finding showed that 1) after receiving group counseling, the experimental group increased their awareness for prevention of cardiovascular disease in risk people significantly at the .01 level. 2) After receiving group counseling, the experimental group increased their awareness for prevention of cardiovascular disease in risk people higher than the control group significantly at the .01 level. 3) Additional follow-up phase, the experimental group has health examination results improvement significantly at the .05 levels.
