Abstract des Autors

One dramatic environmental change that has impacted organizations in recent years has been the emergence and spread of digital technology. Despite the criticalness of engaging in digital transformations for all types of organizations today, most researchers examining this topic have focused on for-profit organizations at the expense of understanding this phenomenon in other types of organizations like not-for-profit organizations. Therefore, this chapter examines digital transformation in not-for-profit sport organizations. To do so, we examine the concept of organizational change and digital technology in organizations. We then explore digital transformation in organizations, including ten different drivers of digital transformation. Next, we provide an overview of digital transformation issues related to strategy, structure and design, and leadership and human resources, noting these are not mutually exclusive: changes in one area (e.g., strategy) due to digital transformation can also result in changes in another area (e.g., structure). We end the chapter by presenting three emerging trends (virtual-based models, digital infrastructure development, and risk and security concerns) and offer concluding remarks with general and specific future research directions related to strategy, structure and design, and leadership and human resources.
