Abstract des Autors
The Covid-19 lockdown in the spring of 2020 and later again from the autumn of the same year changed for a large part of the population in Denmark both the opportunities for and the necessity of physical activity and movement. In their leisure time, many could not practice fitness, swimming, football and other sports because sports facilities, sports clubs and fitness centers had to close. For others, however, homework and study provided better time and opportunities for walking, running and cycling. Covid-19 has serious health and social consequences, but it is also an unusual ‘experiment’ from which one can learn. Among other things, what significance more organized opportunities and structures for sports have on the population’s level of physical movement activity, which can provide new knowledge about which factors are particularly important for the citizens’ different ways of being physically active. Based on a large questionnaire survey of Danes’ physical movement habits in autumn 2020, this article will shed new light on whether and how the changes in everyday life as a result of Covid-19 had an impact on physical activity (PA) level. What factors may explain why some became less physically active while others became more active? And what can be learned from this to promote the PA of citizens in the future?
