Abstract des Autors

There has been significant progress in exercise psychology research in recent years, including an improvement in understanding factors that enhance physical activity adherence, technological advances in intervention research, and objective assessments of physical activity. This chapter summarizes research dimensions related to the field of exercise psychology. Specifically, it discusses five key research dimensions of exercise psychology: research designs, intervention delivery, physical activity assessment, long-term physical activity maintenance, and physical activity intensity. Research indicates that physical activity interventions are efficacious for increasing physical activity among sedentary adults. The chapter explores recent research examining the efficacy of interventions designed to increase physical activity among sedentary adults. It explores the emerging area of interventions designed to reduce sedentary behavior and reviews recent trends in the assessment of physical activity, including both wearable devices and subjective measures. The chapter then discusses current trends in exercise psychology research. It concludes by summarizing future research directions.
