Abstract des Autors

Relative Age Effects are often assumed to disadvantage those who are born later in a selection year; however, this may not always be the case in sport. Relatively younger athletes may incur a variety of advantages (e.g. superior performance, higher salaries in professional sport) as a result of challenges experienced during their development. This chapter examines the existing evidence for the reversal of relative age advantages, summarizes potential mechanisms for this trend, and discusses the practical implications within the domain of sport.
