Abstract des Autors

The project Sport For People With Dementia was initiated by the sports federations "Behinderten- und Rehabilitationssportverband NRW e.V." and the "Landessportbund NRW e.V." in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Big welfare associations ("Freie Wohlfahrtspflege", private care services) and other important partners ("Landesinitiative Demenzservice NRW") are acting in a close advisory capacity. Spread over the state, 73 tandems consisting of sports clubs and varying partners of dementia care services began operating inclusive and homogenous sports classes for people with dementia, especially as they were suitably able to implement them into their local structures. The aims of the scientific evaluation are (1) to identify important framework "conditions for a successful implementation of sports classes for people with dementia and their family carers, (2) to analyse sports clubs as a "Iife accompanying" and important community partner and (3) to analyse the effects participation has on the life satisfaction and wellbeing of the users.
