Abstract des Autors

The aim of research was to identify the physical activity, physical capability and nutrition habits of pupils at primary school and its relations to the physical activity of their parents. The study took place in the period from January to May, 2014. The study included 1-4th grade students (n = 135), 64 girls and 71 boys and their parents (n = 108) from one Kaunas secondary school. The study took place in three stages. In the first phase (January 2014) there were collected all subjects’ anthropometrical data and physical fitness testing had been carried out. During the second stage (FebruaryMarch 2014) parents were asked to fill in questionaires about their and their children’s physical activity, subjective physical fitness, and children’s nutrition habits. The third stage (May 2014) included pupils’ annual academic achievement level registration. According to results of investigation there are 33.6 percent of physically active pupils. Conversely, there are 66.4 percent of physically passive pupils. Boys are physically more active (42.2 percent) than girls (25.5 percent) if the times per week of physical activity is taken into consideration (p < 0.05). More than half (63 percent) of parents are physically passive. It was investigated that the power of muscles and explosive power increases when children grow up, however the hands’ stamina and explosive power stabilizes from fourth class among the girls, The results of physical capability tests (thing throwing and flexibility tests) of boys and girls are significant until the third class (p < 0.05), however this difference reduces later. The difference of explosive power and flexibility increases from the fourth class (p < 0.05). Pupils eat rather healthy food: often have fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy products, but such meals like fast food, potato chips and soda water are rare in their menu – less than once a week. The physical activity of parents do not have any impact on pupils’ nutrition habits. The investigation revealed that girls attain better academic achievements than boys (p < 0.05). However, the academic achievements decline from fourth dass of both genders and do not depend on the physical activity and physical capability of pupils. The results enabled to find no relation among the physical activity of parents and pupils (p < 0.05). There are no significant relations between the academic results and physical activity of pupils (p > 0.05). The physical activity and physical capability had strong positive correlative links (r = 0,877, p < 0.01).
