Abstract

Research background and hypothesis: according to most injured body areas and what is the severity of injuries in judo sports, the training programs may be adjusted. Research aim was to estimate, which body area is most injured by the judo athletes, what is the degree of injuries and how often it is repeated. 33 athletes were given a questionnaire developed using standardized methodology validated by the international Olympic committee (IOC) – „Daily Report on Injuries and Illnesses” codes and classifications, 4th unit, injured body part (location of injury). 27 from 33 athletes were identified in 46 cases of injuries: upper extremity 23 (50 %), lower extremity 18 (39 %) and head and trunk 5 (11 %). So the injuries of upper extremity were dominating. When interviewing judo athletes, the upper extremity injuries were prevailing (50 %), in which shoulder injuries were noted most (52.2 %), lower extremity injuries occurred in 39 % of all cases, in which knee injuries (77.8 %) were dominating, while head and trunk injuries occurred rarely (11 %), in which injuries of lower back were prevailing (60 %). Even though the upper extremity injuries were dominating, it was observed that the most injured part of the body was knee, these injuries consist 30.4 % of all injuries in judo athletes. According to the most injured body parts in judo sport, the training programs could be adjusted in order to strengthen the body parts which are damaged in most of times. The upper extremity is the most injured body part in judo sports, but in most cases most damaged body area is knee. There is a chance for reinjury (45.5 %) if it is not treated properly. Because of that, athletes missing more trainings and therefore sports results are getting worse. Verf.-Referat
