Abstract

The NSCA Strength & Conditioning Professional Standards & Guidelines document is included as a stand-alone pullout in this issue of the Strength and Conditioning Journal. This document is also posted online (in HTM and PDF formats) at the NSCA web site, http://www.nsca-lift.org/ publications/standards.htm. As stated in the preface of the document, the purpose of this project is to help identify areas of liability exposure, increase safety, decrease the likelihood of injuries that might lead to legal claims and suits, and ultimately improve the standard of care being offered throughout the strength and conditioning profession. It is the result of a year-long project undertaken by the NSCA Professional Standards & Guidelines Task Force. Phase I, which involved researching, authoring, and reviewing the document, was completed earlier this year. The NSCA Board of Directors adopted the final document in its entirety in January 2001, and in July 2001, approved the distribution and promotion plan that will comprise phase II. Textauszug
