The definition of upper and lower fixator of scapula should be amended to include the term of middle fixators of scapula respectively scapula adductores (mid trap and rhomboids). This is due to different functions of the muscles surrounding the scapula. Considering specific functions of the individual muscles we suggest to use more variety of exercises in overall workout programs. The correct initial position and maintaining the proper performance of the exercise we see as a very important part of positive effect of the exercise. The surface EMG measurement (electromyography) was done on different parts of scapular muscles (upper, middle and lower fixators of scapula) during four types of exercises which are regularly used to strengthen the scapular fixators. The results from surface EMG graph comparison showed that different parts of scapular fixators was more or less activated according to the demands of initial position and the direction of arm movement. We didn’t find difference in surface EMG activity of scapular muscles in between exercises with arm having in outer and inner rotation. Verf.-Referat
