Abstract des Autors
This paper deals with the long-term performance development of top Czech tennis
male and female players, especially in light of their U12 and U14 national and
international ATP and WTA rankings development and relation. The article is connected with the quantitative pro- and retrospective ranking analysis, aimed to a problem of the optimal long-term tennis concept. The prospective view analyses national rankings of best U12 and U14 players (i.e. 0.5% of all players in the age category during 1989–2010) in relation to their future success on the international ATP or WTA Tour. The total number of 1 715 tennis players were involved into the research. There was a success of 37.38% of male players and 58.45% of female players to get into the ATP/WTA database. The retrospective analysis focuses on players (born 1970 or younger) who reached a top 100 ATP or WTA, and their ranking analysis in U12 and U14 age category. The results show that 47 Czech tennis players (29 women and 18 men) achieved a professional top 100 ATP or WTA year-end ranking during 1989–2010. The average age when the Czech top 100 ATP or WTA players started tennis is 6.06 years. Verf.-Referat
