Abstract des Autors

To date, limited research has reported the physiological attributes of adult healthy
life guards. The purpose of the present investigation was to describe the anthropometric and functional characteristics of professional rescuers and identify any gender differences. Seventeen male (Mean ± SD– age = 35 ± 4 years; stature = 181.4 ± 4.0 cm; mass = 98.1 ± 16.9 kg; %BF = 22.0 ± 6.8 %) and seven female (age = 32 ± 2 years; stature = 164.8 ± 0.9 cm; mass = 74.3 ± 9.9 kg; %BF = 21.9 ± 7.1 %) professional life savers were evaluated by whole bioimpedance method for body
and on the treadmill by increased exercise till the heart rate at the level 170 ± 10 beats per min the functional fitness. The body height of Czech rescuers was similar like a data from literature. Body mass and body fat content was significantly higher than similar data from abroad. The predispositions for muscle activities assessed by ECM/BCM were significantly better than the Czech population standards. Mean peak oxygen uptake was 40.3 ± 2.3 ml in men and 35.2 ± 3.7 ml in females was significantly lower than data from literature but higher than Czech population standards. We may conclude that the physical fitness state of the Czech rescuers is lower than data from literature. Main reasons are connected with higher body mass and probably lower movement regime in our subjects. Verf.-Referat
