Abstract des Verlegers

To evaluate the absenteeism from work, 217 habitually exercising and 205 sedentary women as well as 292 and 150 men from 30 to 60 years of age participated in a study, the manifestation of acute and chronic diseases and the occurence of accidents. With existing chronic diseases exercising subjects have less complaints. The data demonstrate that the exercising persons have significant advantages with respect to health stability; they also have less injuries (except during exercise). The beneficial effects of regular exercise are among women even more obvious than among men in comparison to inactive persons and the advantages of the active subjects increase with progressing age.
