Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the dynamics of the running speed results of high performance athletes, who are adapted to speed, strength and endurance physical loads. Our hypothesis of the study is that body reaction of high performance athletes adapted to different physical loads differs and the range of running results depends on physical load specifics. The subjects were high performance athletes of Lithuanian national team who are adapted to different physical loads. The subjects’ sport experience was from 7 to 8 years and they were 21-24 years old. All subjects were divided into 3 groups: first – (n = 9) speed adapted athletes (60 m and 400 m runners) ((mean standard deviation) 179.89 ± 7.34 cm height, 74.00 ± 5.44 kg body mass); second – (n = 9) strength adapted athletes (javelin and discus throwers) (186.00 ± 5.87 cm height, 87.34 ± 9.54 kg body mass); third (n = 9) – endurance adapted athletes (middle and long distance runners) (182.34 ± 7.02 cm height, 69.00 ± 2.77 kg body mass). These groups were structured by physical load particularity: in sprint group – 80% of total load dominated speed development; in strength – 80% off total load dominated strength development; in endurance – 80% off total load dominated endurance development. In this study there was compared speed between the studied groups by the control exercises: 10 m dash running, 10 m flying running after 10 m acceleration, 10 m flying running after 20 m of acceleration. Conclusions have shown that athletes, who are adapted to different physical loads, show different results: strength was better in adapted athletes in 10 m dash running. When running speed was getting higher – better results showed speed adapted athletes. Endurance athletes have shown the worst results in 10 m dash running and flying acceleration. Verf.-Referat
