N2 - The goal of this article is to describe the performance method of the turn for handicapped skiers with one above-the-knee leg amputation. The authors focused on two factors that influence this specific skill: the tilt of the skier‘s body within the frontal plane with respect to the riding speed and to the vertical movement in the knee joint. The description of the carve was written on the basis of three dimensional kinematics analysis, which created foundations for description of the skill. The research sample consisted of 6 skiers with one-side above knee amputation, four men and two women. During the turn on the outer edge of the ski, the body tilt depends on the skier’s riding speed (a high correlation between the riding speed and body tilt in the frontal plane), and also on the use of only the inner stabilizer during the course of the turn. During turns on the inner edge of the ski, the body tilt does not only depend on the skier’s riding speed. Body tilt depends on use of inner stabilizer too. The movement of the knee joint in the sagittal plane (vertical movement) is in the course of the whole turn on the inner as well as the outer edge of the ski minimal for all of the skiers. Only the skiers who achieve higher speed and greater body tilt in the frontal plane slightly bend the standing leg in the knee joint in the sagittal plane when they are at the top of the turn.
